Tango In Sight.....Neutralized

So this past Thursday at around 8:40PM, I'm hanging out with Tinglez & Lmack in my basement when my mom calls me upstairs. She tells me that we need to go out to my farm now, which isn't too bad cause Lmack needs to be home by 9 anyway.

Now for a little bit of back story. About two weeks ago, my farm was assaulted. Some people broke into the cellar & stole a 30-gallon jug of 30 year old homemade wine. They also busted into the driving shed, stole some tools, busted all the windows in my parts car, and put a shovel through the windshield. Since then, my had had installed a couple cameras and a motion sensor light.

Back to Thursday. I quickly learn that our farm neighbors across the road notice the light on and what seems to be an open shed door and give my mother a ring. So we head out. These events excite Lmack and he regrets his inability to attend.

I get a little worked up too, thinking if they are still out there, what the fuck will I do? I consider taking a bat or something to defend myself with, but we just called 911 before we left so I didn't think much of it.

When we get there, two OPP cruisers are there to meet us. They already checked out the shed and found nothing. The door was closed when they got to the scene. As we move to check the house, another one pulls up.

The female officer checks the perimeter of the house as my mother and I check inside with the male officer. Now I don't mean to sound like chicken shit, but I tried to let him lead as much as possible. I'm about 6'1" and he stood a good 2 or 3 inches taller than me, and probably twice my weight; and not in a fat way. Had someone been in the house still, we both would have been safe with him on point; what with his gun, vest, and training/experience he had over me.

We check all the rooms in the house, everything came up clean. False alarm, or they took off before we got there. Either way it was less exciting than anticipated. The camera caught nothing cause my dad had played around with it the day before & it wasn't recording. That has since been resolved.

In other news, I had an EOT co-op party at my boss' house in Guelph on Friday. The was to be filled with a movie, Wii, and Xbox 360, however, within the first 15 minutes my Xbox received the dreadful Red Ring of Death. That kind of bummed me out but I still managed to enjoy the night with Wii Tennis... I want one.

Saturday I had to help my sister move out of Waterloo and afterwards did some shopping. Luckily, my Xbox came with a 3 year warranty and so I went to Factory Direct where they (after a lot of apathetic attitude and 2 already broken Xboxs) gave me a new one.

After shopping, Tinglez and I saw Harold & Kumar 2, and let me tell you, it's fucking sweet. It was a great start to summer movies and had lots of great previews for things to come.

Wrapping things up, for those of you who don't know (probably those who don't regularly read my blog), this Sunday I make the move back to Waterloo for the Summer term. So this weekend is time to party. Hope to see you all before I leave.

Cheers.

*Notebook Update*

Well, it was a nice dream, but that's all it was. My hopes of a two-for-one laptop deal have been turned into shrapnel. I received an email from Michelle (Lenovo) asking about when UPS could pick up the T61.

*sigh*

I knew this day would come, I just didn't want it too. Surprisingly though, it only took them 2.5 weeks to figure it out, I really thought it would have been longer. I replied to let her know when would be an alright time (Dammit, I should have said never) and asked about my letter of apology.

Two days later I get an email of apology. Slugheads. I still cannot comprehend how their customer service can be so bad. I had to call Telus (my cell phone) today & inquire about a LD charge. Within 7 minutes I went through the automated thing, talked to someone, and got my questions answered.

7 minutes was less then the average hold time at Lenovo, let alone once spending more than 10 times that long on hold. What really surprised me about Telus was that not only was it quick, friendly, and accurate, but she also reminded me when my warranty was up & how much caller ID costs. Ya I don't have it, wanna fight 'bout it?

So to put this into perspective, if Telus & Lenovo were to enter a Halo 3 Team Slayer match, heres how things would end up:

Case closed. By the way, I edited the HTML on the page to get the table. I guess that makes me a programmer (again) as well as a web developer; cause you know, my blog is on the internet....

Peace

I Are The Infections

While trying to keep on top of this blog (no dirty comments, please), I have yet another senseless post of about the everyday happenings of my life. To be precise, this past weekend.

I knew from the get go that this weekend wasn't going to be the greatest. Tinglez wasn't coming home & I had to put in a few hours at work on Saturday.

Friday

I think I can sum this up in one word: Halo. Lmacks' new found financial beliefs have us wanting to spend the same $0 amount of cash while still enjoying ourselves. I picked him up after work & we got down to business, shootin' baddies & pwning noobs. Pizza was supplied by my folks and we called it an early night at around midnight.

Saturday

I wake up at 10AM, eat a donut, shower, and go into work at about 10:50AM. They are counting inventory today & need IT support for a last minute application I wrote to export data to excel for them. They aren't finished counting when I arrive and they figure another hour or so until they are done (and can pull the data). Being a nice guy I offer to help out as opposed to sitting at a desk waiting.

After close to an hour of moving parts and sticking labels, it's done. Just when I'm about to be happy, half of the stuff wasn't scanned right or... something like that, and it had to be recounted. So I help again. Now, things are supposed to be wrapped up by 2PM (note I was planning on being gone by 12-1PM) and by 2:30, it apparent that it needs to be counted a 3rd time.

Now I am unimpressed and it takes to about 4:45 to finish and it still doesn't scan right. Things are messed but at least we have numbers and can change thing manually after. So By ten to 5PM, we sit down & being the data pulling. Once a few random checks are made to make sure the data is right, I grab my coat & am out the door by 5.

10 minutes was all that I was needed for yet I was there for 6 hours. God damn.

Details aside, I pick up Lmack after work & we grab food stuffs from Soybes to make sandwiches for supper (supposed to be lunch). Recipe as follows:

-Begin making Alfredo sauce from package
-Begin making sautéed mushrooms
-Cut open beget & apply garlic butter
-Put bread under the oven broiler to lightly toast
-Equip sliced roast beef, mushrooms, and swiss cheese to bread
-Melt cheese in oven
-Add parmasen to Alfredo sauce
-Add sauce to sandwich and enjoy

You might recognize this as the Quiznos Beef & Swiss melt. This was are attempt at making such an awesome sandwich ourselves. And it worked.

Granted that it didn't taste exactly the same, nor did we expect it too. But it was fucking awesome. Although I enjoyed it, I think Lmack got more pleasure out of it than I did. He said it was the best thing he had ever made. For myself, it was probably in the top 3 best food stuffs I have made, and so it didn't have a huge lead on other things I have made. Tasty nevertheless.

Some improvements that could be made would be to use bigger bread & to sauce it up before any mushrooms or meat is put on.

After wards was more Halo. Highlights of the evening included us saving our asses and us owning shit up. You really need to watch the last 30 seconds where we save our asses because we come within inches of losing. It was a real heart stopping moment.

The night was filled with lots of Halo, as well as some newly acquired Assault Heroes, and by 3AM called it a night. Lmack crash in my basement, and by 11AM we were right back at it, but not for long.

Sunday

We were treated to French toast for brunch and afterwards spent near 2 hours changing my car tires with my Dad.

I know what you are thinking, and yes, 2 hours is a long time to change tires. This was because the tires had rusted on during the winter and so, we had to loosen the lug nuts on a tire and then my Dad would abuse the car (driving up curbs, hard turns & braking, etc.) until the tire broke free. The best part, however, was Lmack being afraid of the impact gun &air hose in general, too funny.

We resumed gaming, only this time MechAssault 2. We endured mass destruction until 5:30, at which point we got some grub from the dub. After the tasty meal, we parted ways and I headed to Waterloo to see Tinglez.

Details aside, I left around 10:50PM on a good note, but didn't go to bed until 12:30 or so.

That was my weekend, don't you feel like you were right there?

If I Were A Water Craft....

Here is toady's topic. Lmack, read it. This post is similar to one of Binks; commentary on the world/interwebs.

So, as a programmer, I pissed my pants laughing on this one. I haven't used all languages mentioned, but have heard things. My favorite there by far is HTML. I know barely any HTML myself, but have dabbled in it. I dislike it when web developers think they can "program" because they know HTML. (note: I almost never come into contact with people like this, it just bugs me in theory.)

Read some of the comments too. Apparently there is a huge buzz around Python. Never heard anything either way about it, have you?

Also note, that a lot of comments are retarded, asking about "C". "C" is a fucking nuclear sub you tards. Gawd.
